The last few years I have worked with the theme - identity. I really want to understand what is the basis of identity? What is the identity? Some years ago I thought that identity was something fixed, like a fingerprint. Over time I started to believe identity was more of an imprint. Recently I started investigate myself, people around me and their families and I came to the conclusion that identity as imprint can frequently change. It is not like a fingerprint that remains the same all of our life. Have you noticed that?

With disdain I find out that our thoughts and behavior are patterned by experiences from our childhood, our families, our friends, culture, and subculture. Sometimes behavior is driven by these patterns, without realizing it, as if we are without choice. Our identity is constructed of conversational patterns and behavioral patterns. These patterns though are constantly changing and as a result our identity is always evolving and doesn't remain the same .

I work mostly with images and I construct identities that actually do not exist. They are imaginary identities made from different photos that I find around me. I overlay these images with real places, people close to me. But other times my work tends to be experimental, as I keep in mind only the fundamental compositional elements I want to rely on and the specific color combinations I find appealing. So the composition develops autonomously. This is my creativity at its pure and simple - I mix different techniques, paints and methods, adding physical and metaphorical layers to my creations.

A key element in my painting is what I think when I'm creating. More often than not, I don't think at all because my hand works so fast that my mind can't keep up with its nagging thoughts, ideas and suggestions. And that's wonderful because this leaves me in a whirl of pure, nonfigurative joy - my delight and inspiration to keep going. It's a trancelike state that resembles a therapy session or meditation, where I become a subjective conduit for whatever from the depths of my subconscious.

Actually I am a multidisciplinary artist with a strong interest in exploring textile and painting. My latest work revolves around human relationships, behavior patterns and memory, focusing on how we are linked to the place, community, country, family in which we live and how we form a larger network of pieces within a greater system.
